Hedge Court Robots: Ideas

You are here: Hedge Court | Robots | Ideas

This page is home to my imaginary robots. Why imaginary? Because they don't exist, other than in my head. Well, they may exist or something like them exists, but I don't have it and I haven't built it. Most of these are robots I think would be cool to build but I probably won't ever build them because they require focus and I'm easily distracted, typically by shiny objects. Perhaps if I made my robots shiny, then I'd be distracted by my robots and some of these ideas will become reality?

  • Pencil Pusher - a small desk-top rover
  • Balderdash - lives under couch and keeps dog's ball out from underneath
  • Dumb & Dumber - anti-quitsies, tag, you're it, quitsies, double-stamped it
  • Yard Work Companion - you guessed it, this guy will make yard work easier
  • Somethin-vore Rotato - a stationary guy who rotates in search of "somethin"
  • SALTINE / DIODE - advanced line following, with ability to navigate through intersections
  • COMIT - module for transfering data from a computer to a robot, via a computer monitor
  • Sean Paul's Robot Troupe - group of entertainer robots who dance to music
  • Photoresistor Tester - a little black-box that will consistently measure resistance values of photoresistors (non-robot)
  • Plant Light - basically a timer that'll shine light on a plant that's in a room with no windows

Are you wondering what inspiration gives rise to these ideas?

Disclaimer:
I make no claim as to the originality of any of the ideas, most are probably ideas I got by reading other web pages that I surf pretty much all day long (see inspiration category #2). If you think I'm claiming someone else's idea as my own, email me to let me know and I'll give the appropriate person/website credit.

I also make no claim about having any skill with robots, or skill with anything for that matter. You might think an idea here would be easy to build and you can build it in a weekend, or you know of a module or part that's inexpensive while I'm saying that it costs too much. Well, good for you, but I think they're hard, so cut me some slack, or better yet email me descriptions of how you'd build it. Any ideas would be great. I can even post your stuff here (with appropriate credit given to you :-) if you want.
